Pink Feather Foundation Showcases New Forever Home

The Pink Feather Foundation welcomed local business leaders and community members to its new Oxford facility Thursday evening for an Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours and open house.

Guests toured the organization's new 4,800-square-foot Forever Home at 65 King Street and received a firsthand look at how Pink Feather collects, organizes and distributes clothing to local students.

The new facility includes extensive clothing-storage areas, dedicated spaces for processing donations, a photography room and work areas where volunteers can prepare and package clothing orders.

After moving six times in eight years, the permanent facility provides Pink Feather with the stability and additional room it needs to continue serving area schools and expand its reach in the future.

Clothing is carefully organized by age, size and category for local students.

Pink Feather Foundation works with teachers in MSAD 17 and RSU 16 to confidentially provide students with clothing and accessories at no cost.

Teachers use a password-protected online shopping portal, where students can help select the clothing they need. Each order is then prepared and delivered to the student's school while protecting the student's privacy.

The organization's goal is to ensure that students have the essentials they need to feel confident, remain engaged in school and achieve their full potential.

During Thursday's event, visitors saw rows of carefully organized clothing for students of different ages, sizes and needs. They also learned about the many volunteers, businesses, contractors, financial institutions and individual donors who helped make the new facility possible.

Pink Feather's headquarters was built on donated land. The project also received financial contributions, donated materials, professional services and volunteer labor from across the community.

A special display inside the facility recognizes supporters with engraved wooden hearts and feathers, including a feather recognizing WOXO's support of the organization.

The Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours provided an impressive look at both the size of Pink Feather's operation and the care that goes into helping every student.

More than a building, the new Forever Home represents long-term stability for an organization quietly making a meaningful difference for children across the Oxford Hills and surrounding communities.
